For devices (Secretaries) configured with Multicall and DSS/BLF appearances of other prime DNs (Boss), this feature allows the users to change the Ring Type (Ring or No Ring) of their Multicall appearances, enabling them to receive and route their Boss's calls, as required. See Programming for specific configuration requirements.
When activated, this feature
places the monitored device (Boss) in Do Not Disturb (DND) state;
routes the Boss's incoming calls to the screening device or devices (Secretary), ringing the Multicall line appearances of the Boss's prime DN on all screening devices;
allows one of the ringing Secretaries to either pick up the call or route it back to the Boss's device using the DSS/BLF key. The routed call overrides the DND and rings the Boss's prime line.
NOTES
Calls routed through a DSS/BLF key ALWAYS ring the called party's prime line.
Screening devices can be configured as a Primary or Backup Secretary. Both will ring when the feature is activated, but only Primary Secretaries can activate or deactivate the feature, or route the calls back to the Boss.
Either the Boss or a Primary Secretary can activate or deactivate the feature, as follows:
Boss: Presses the DND key.
Call Screening is enabled or disabled on the Boss and all configured Secretary devices.
Secretary: Presses the DSS/BLF key for the time period specified by the Enable Device Configuration OR presses the Superkey+DSS/BLF key.
Call Screening is enabled or disabled only on the particular Secretary device; however:
The first Secretary that enables the feature places the Boss in the DND state.
The last Secretary that disables the feature automatically disables the Boss's DND.
NOTES
Long Key Press is not supported on Programmable Key Modules (PKM). If Boss's DSS/BLF and Multicall keys appear on a Secretary's PKM, the Secretary must use the Superkey to activate or deactivate Call Screening on the Boss's device.
When the DND status of the Boss device changes, the DSS/BLF appearance on the monitoring device takes few seconds to update (7 seconds + the Enable Device Configuration, if used).
The following scenarios illustrate behaviors associated with the Call Screening. In both scenarios the Boss is the screened device, the Secretary is the screening device, and they are configured with the following keys:
Boss: DND
Secretary: Superkey, DND, Multicall and DSS/BLF of Boss with ring type 'No Ring'
No Single Line of Boss or Speedcall to Single Line of Boss is configured for the Boss or Secretary device.
NOTES
The DND functionality is required for this feature, but the DND key is optional; the DND state can be invoked by any other available method, such as Feature Access Code (FAC).
In the following scenarios, Superkey is used to activate/deactivate the feature. However, Superkey is not required if the Long Key Press functionality is enabled (Enable Device Configuration is configured with a value other than zero).
Underlined entries in the following tables describe behaviors introduced by this feature.

Call Screening is supported by 53xx IP phones (excluding the 5302 and 5304) and 69xx IP phones only.
The following features work in conjunction with Call Screening:
Do Not Disturb (programmable key [PK] must be configured on the Boss's device)
Multicall only (PK of the Boss's prime DN must be configured on the screening device)
DSS/BLF only (PK of the Boss's prime DN must be configured on the screening device)
Call Rerouting (allows to route Boss calls when no one is available to receive them)
Only 'standard' DSS/BLF line type, not the Secretarial, supports this feature.
If COS option Enable Device Configuration is disabled (set to 0), Superkey must be programmed on the screening device (see Feature Keys). Superkey is also necessary if the Boss's DSS/BLF and Multicall keys appear on a Secretary's PKM.
Boss and all Secretaries must share the same resiliency programming.
This feature does not affect Multicall appearances configured on the Boss's device.
When Boss's DN is busy, you cannot Override (Intrude) the Boss's device, since you cannot override a busy multicall group. To use the Override option, a separate single DN must be configured on the Boss's device.
If multiple Boss appearances are configured on the Secretary device, the Ring Type (Ring or No Ring) setting of the first appearance determines the Call Screening status of the Secretary device.
If the secretary and boss share multicall or key line appearances and the boss changes his Group Presence status to Absent, any calls to the shared lines will be presented to the boss's phone whether or not call screening is in effect. The calls are signaled by flashing the prime line on the boss's phone; no ringing is applied.

Options form
Set option 'BLF - Busy indication based on set enabled' to 'Yes' to ensure that the Secretaries with a DSS/BLF and Multicall of the Boss receive proper call indications.
If Call Rerouting on DND is
not programmed for the Boss, set option 'Do Not Override DND for
Public Network DID/DDI Callers' to Yes. Otherwise, external calls
will override Call Screening.
If Call Rerouting on DND is programmed, this option does not impact
Call Screening.
